With its 1816 meters high, Livigno is the privileged starting point for professionals and amateurs who want to reach the peaks of the Italian Alps that surround the Little Tibet. Of these, 22 in the area between Valtellina and Switzerland reach a height of over 3000 meters and 10 are those that have always been considered the most representative of Livigno:

Quite a difficult hike, just after the beginning you will find a steep climb towards the "Mot" mountain and then a ridge will follow with an exposed passage equipped with chains. Back on the trail, you abandon it once reached the "Bocchetta del Canton" , walking on the scree and a few rocks at the foot of the summit. The descent to Val Saliente is at times narrow and steep.

Moderately difficult hike, with the long traverse exposed above the Val Viera. A chain helps the ascent of the last rill before the summit. The descent through continuous hairpin turn doesn't present any particular problems.

Start from parking area P8 Al Vach and follow a flat stretch of bridleway, path N101, until the Che'seira dal Vach. From here, take the lefthand trail to Val Ne'ira. The waterfall of Val Ne'ira, is very impressive. Here take path N114, on the lefthand side of the valley, The trail is scarcely marked and becomes more challenging suited to good hikers and leads to Boche'ta dal Co'rn dali Ca'bra. From here you descend via a snowy stretch, crossing Vedre'ta da li Mina and arriving at the Lach dali Mina. Continue the descent, which becomes easier only at Chese'ira dal Gras di Agne'i, then becomes a bridleway on path N119 to Pont da l'Al and then on to parking area P6 Tresge'nda.

Starting from parking area P10 La Forcola, take path N151 towards La Co'lma, the entrance to the Val da Fain on Swiss territory. To get there you ascend a wellmaintained trail that crosses a steep ridge where care must be taken not to dislodge rocks onto the road below. Once at La Co'lma, near a Swiss military outpost, the path N155 crosses to the opposite side and winds up a steep ridge. You come to the turnoff to the right that leads to the Lach dal Mont. Instead continue upwards on the trail to the left until you reach a stretch of the ridge on the border between Italy and Switzerland: proceed carefully to the summit of Somp i Crap Ne'ir, 3,104 metres above sea level

Excursion without particular difficulties, demanding only for a lack of a defined track. Leaving the trail that leads to "Lago del Monte" lake, you first walk on pastures and then climb up the stony ground to go to the ridge that leads to the top. The return is on the same trail.

From parking area P10 La Forcola take path N111 towards Val Orse'ra, making sure to turn left onto path N112 which climbs the side of the Forcola Valley. You reach the small lake of Lach dal Vach. From here, the top does not seem far, although it is still a good walk. On reaching the viewpoint near the top, the temptation is to push on, which requires a certain degree of caution and some experience given the altitude of 3,050 m above sea level. From here, your efforts are rewarded with wonderful views over the Livigno Valley and the Bernina group.

Physically difficult hike. You start by following the easy trail of the Val Federia, until you reach the Federia mountain hut. From there begins a climb that becomes increasingly demanding. You pass through the Corna dei Gessi, climbing up to intercept the main ridge on which the Italian-Swiss border runs. A little further on, the narrow southern ridge of Mount Cotschen, made up of rocks that are not difficult to climb. The return is on the same trail. | Alternative route: you can reach the top with the Carosello 3000 gondola, in that way you can shorten the excursion, for a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes from the Carosello peak to Piz Cotschen.

Start at the parking P3 Calche'ira direction Camposc'tin to take the path N174 to the Te'a Alta da Fedaria and reach the prairie I Paris. Great view from here on the valley. The path becomes more and more challenging, make sure to go on the path N174.1 on the left site to get to the Pi'za di Rin with a final stretch to wak with caution, quite difficult but rewarding.

Start from parking area P6 La Tresge'nda: the first stretch is a paved bridleway up to Pont da l'Al. From here there is a dirt bridleway, path N119. The forest gives way to meadows and stony ground with the colours and scents of juniper and rhododendron. Arriving at Chese'iera da li Mina you continue for an undemanding short way to Chese'ira dal Gras di Agne'i and the adjacent Alpe Mine Refuge, which offers tasty fare. From here path N120 climbs and is more challenging up from the Camana di Ermelin where you gradually continue up the ridge line to the summit. Hence the name, Al Filon, which offers panoramic views at an altitude of 3,133 metres above sea level.

The highest peak in Livigno requires a high level of ability, both for the difference in height and for the length to be covered, including a long stretch on an extensive stony ground. The final part is the most technical, where the steep and exposed climb requires experience and a bit of habit in the high mountains, especially on the return trail.

REACH THE 3000 METERS TOGETHER WITH AN ALPINE GUIDE
All Saturdays from 4th July to 29th August don't miss the opportunity to participate in a spectacular excursion with the Alpine Guides of Livigno among ridges, peaks and alpine lakes straddling the Swiss border. This excursion takes place mainly on a trail traced with sections on stony ground and short exposed passages. Lenght about 15 km, difference in altitude from 700mt. to1100mt, total time about 8 hours.
